Terms of Service

These terms are the agreement between you and AskMoritz. By downloading or using the app, you accept them. If you don't agree, please don't use AskMoritz.

1. Acceptance

By creating an account or otherwise using AskMoritz (the "app"), you agree to these Terms of Service and to our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated by reference. Together they form the entire agreement between you and AskMoritz regarding the app.

2. The service

AskMoritz lets you submit an "appeal" and receive an AI-generated "verdict" — Upheld, Overturned, or Remanded — along with related features such as your Docket, Precedent, Chambers settings, and Moritz's Lunch. We may add, change, or discontinue features at any time.

3. For entertainment only

Verdicts and all other output are generated by an automated AI system. They are provided for entertainment and personal reflection only. They are not, and must not be relied upon as, legal, financial, medical, psychological, or any other professional advice. AskMoritz makes no claim that any verdict is correct, complete, or suitable for your situation. Decisions you make are your own.

4. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old (or 16 where your local law requires) to use AskMoritz, and you must be able to form a binding contract. By using the app you represent that you meet these requirements.

5. Your account

You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for activity under your account. Tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorized use. You may delete your account at any time from Chambers → Account → Delete Account.

6. Acceptable use

When using AskMoritz you agree not to:

• break the law or infringe anyone's rights;
• submit content that is unlawful, harmful, harassing, hateful, or that you have no right to share;
• upload other people's sensitive personal data;
• attempt to disrupt, reverse-engineer, overload, or circumvent the security of the app or its providers; or
• use the app to build or train a competing product.

Remember that appeals are processed by a third-party AI provider; write accordingly.

7. Your content

You keep ownership of the appeals and notes you submit ("your content"). You grant AskMoritz a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive license to host, store, process, and transmit your content solely to operate the app for you — including sending it to our AI provider to generate your verdict. This license ends when you delete the content or your account, except for residual copies that may briefly remain in backups or provider logs.

8. Our intellectual property

The app, the "AskMoritz" name, the crest and wordmark, the "Moritz" persona, the verdict system, and all related design, text, and software are owned by AskMoritz and protected by intellectual-property laws. These terms grant you a personal, revocable, non-transferable license to use the app for your own non-commercial purposes; they grant you no other rights.

9. No affiliation

AskMoritz is an independent app. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any bank, financial institution, law firm, court, or any real person named "Moritz." "Moritz" is a fictional persona. Nothing in the app is an official ruling of any kind.

10. Disclaimers

The app is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any verdict will meet your expectations. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, AskMoritz will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss arising from your reliance on a verdict or your use of (or inability to use) the app. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the greater of the amount you paid for the app in the twelve months before the claim or USD 50. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

12. Termination

You may stop using AskMoritz and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these terms or to protect the service or its users. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — including content license residue, intellectual property, disclaimers, and limitation of liability — will survive.

13. Apple App Store terms

If you download AskMoritz from the Apple App Store, the following also apply:

• These terms are between you and AskMoritz only, not with Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content.
• Apple has no obligation to provide any maintenance or support for the app.
• In the event the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple may refund the purchase price (if any); to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation for the app.
• Apple is not responsible for addressing any claims relating to the app, including product-liability, legal-compliance, or consumer-protection claims, or third-party claims that the app infringes intellectual-property rights.
• You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as "terrorist supporting," and that you are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
• Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the country in which the developer of AskMoritz is resident, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Where you are a consumer, you keep the benefit of any mandatory protections of the country where you live. Disputes will be handled by the competent courts of that jurisdiction, subject to any consumer rights you may have to bring proceedings locally.

15. Changes

We may revise these terms as the app evolves. We'll update the date above and, for material changes, provide a more prominent notice. Continuing to use AskMoritz after a change means you accept the revised terms.
